Are you sure thats an X370 chipset, with the dual PCIex16 slots ? it quite clearly says PCIex4 on the top of the bottom slot in the picture. That would mean its not for crossfire/Sli ? I would have expected X370 boards to be a bit more "complete" in their options too...

Those seem to be two cheap motherboards with a very simple layout designed for APUs, not something designed with gaming and overclocking in mind. I hope to see reasonable prices at the release of Zen.

Not sure as mentioned in the news-item. But remember, these are two OEM motherboards, not retail.

yeah, but i would expect an X370 board to at least have two full x16 slots ? Even on a microATX board. edit : Ah, OEM, so made for pre-built systems. All logic gets thrown out the Window with OEM builds....

iirc the PS/2 port is very powerful in the number of keys pressed at once, and has obvious compatibility with older motherboards. There was a latency thing as well, vs USB.....

Judging by the shots both mobos have the same chpsets with the following markings. 17A2 1612 D NVA875.02 218-0891005-00 So most probably that are both AMD B350 based motherboards.

Weirdest item on boards for me would be the PS/2 port. Can't believe some people still have such old peripherals in working order.
And that's why you are "Newbie" 🙂

If these are the cheap low-end board, I'm already [mostly] happy with what I see. Assuming Zen is good enough to buy, all I really want is a mini ITX board with: * Decent overclockability * At least 4x SATA ports * At least 1 M.2 or U.2 slot * At least 1 USB 3.1 port * 5.1 analog surround sound; SPDIF would be nice too * Gigabit ethernet (though that's kind of a given...) Nothing else really matters to me at all. I'm sure I'll encounter something that has what I want, it's just a matter of how long do I need to wait for a board like this to be released. Zen is already released much later than I prefer.

Damm This really has me hyped-up for Zen now, cant wait!

Please, people still saying X370 will give 32-PCIe 3.0 lanes, remenber the main PCIE controller is on the SoC/CPU AMD not on the chipset, that chipset is just a HUB actually conected to the Bristol Ridge SoC via 4x PCIE 3.0 lanes, this boards are low to mid end, maybe Zen SoCs and X370 Will be connected via 8x PCIE 3.0 lanes to give higher bandwidth, possible high end motherboards has Black socket and Zen SoCs 24 to 32 lanes for dGPUs on SLI/CF, 24 lanes would 3 x8 or 1 x16 + 1 x8 and 32 lanes 2 x16 or 4x 8 or 1 x16 + 2 x8 to no SLI lost, other thing high end motherboards does'nt hace just 3+1 phases without heatsink, these boards looks low end because mid end Gigabyte boards has 4+1 mimimal phases and heatsink... I wait 6+2 (<95w) and 8+2 (125w OC series) for high end motherboards

These pics look sexy to me. 🙂 Just glad to see AM4 boards out and about, even though we cannot buy them yet.

they should just jump ahead and bring the 5gbit ethernet ports with it

some oldschool looking cpu socket

That's until the moment that you have USB issues due to anything (from memory/CPU issues to chipset initialization), and you have to enter the bios 😀

Zen seems to be bringing his own feet.

This leads me to believe it's not only for OEM, but geared towards business which even though may want to upgrade, may not want to lose their PS/2 capabilities

Is that analog power? Must be for mainstream best buy pcs

Too bad those boards have Realtek's ALC887 chipset and not ALC1150.... Huge downgrade there. I'd hope retail products would have ALC1150 and not the older ALC887..... There's no justification for using ALC887 on a consumer product at this point in time.

Why? for "better" sound out of some 10$ speakers/monitor where most of these will end up. not even talking about the #1 reason why companies DO NOT go with something better: cost.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/246/246171.jpg
I currently use an ALC889. I'm not sure how much better (or worse) it is from the 887 but it has been good enough for my needs. I use a 5.1 surround system and whenever I get the opportunity I use SPDIF (in which case you can have the crappiest integrated audio and you'll still get great quality). For headphone users and audiophiles, I would agree that these cheap audio chipsets are not the way to go. But I'm not either of those and even if I could hear the effects of EMI or the poor quality of the transistors, it doesn't matter since I have the noise of cooling fans to deal with. So, even if I do end up with an ALC887, I'm not really going to care.
