on other hand if you have Windows hate, i mean 8 (lol) you have access to 8.1 for free... 8.1 correct all the major bug of 8 so it's a great move. then why not?

The polling rate got unlocked with 8.1.1 if that's what you're referring to.

i dont know if thats the bug, but i have tried without the fix and the problem was still there. I only had to use it for one game though, but still its the game i almost play every day so it was annoying to say the least

You have no idea how annoying this is...

I have read of people having problems installing the update from 8 to 8.1.

You can always upgrade to W7 if you have problems with W8.1. I don't see what the problem is... 😀

well w8.1 is the best windows os. And it is free from 8.0 so who needs support on 8.0 as all programs work just as well if not better on 8.1 -.-

Good move. 8.0 will be unsupported in around 30 days from now. I see nothing wrong with this. At the workplace and at home 8.1 is working just fine.

Unless this is sarcastic, I have no idea why you find this annoying. I think something important to point out is that the drivers don't OFFICIALLY support Windows 8.0, but should still work regardless. I would find it very surprising if the installer actually goes out of its way to prevent 8.0 from working.

Uh, those are different OS's for a start. But what I mean by problems is that the installer fails and errors out, they cannot install it (without a fresh install). I honestly don't care because I have no intention of using 8 or 8.1.

So many "experts" and none of them realized that Win8.0 can't be updated to 8.1 on the Enterprise edition. It's even written in the news description. WTH?

It's not exactly correct. In fact, it's misleading. Being Windows 8 Enterprise, and then 8.1 user, I can explain how it works: If you have a laptop with in-BIOS Windows 8.0 Home/Pro key, you can't perform an easy fresh 8.1 installation - you either have to install 8.0 and then upgrade to 8.1 or prepare 8.1 image with delayed activation or install 8.1 with other key and then change it later Windows 8 Home and 8 Pro users can upgrade from Store to the same edition of 8.1 as their 8.0 Windows 8 Enterprise can't be upgraded from Store Windows 8 Enterprise is not for regular users, who can get pretty much all the functionality in Pro Outside of corporate environment, almost all of Win 8(.1) Enterprise are either pirated to used by MSDN subscribers If your Windows 8 Enterprise comes from a company, ask your admin to perform the upgrade. If you're an admin, you should know what to do. If you're a MSDN subscriber as me, or have other Enterprise license, get your Windows 8.1 image from Microsoft site, then burn to disk / install on USB / mount and run the upgrade If your Windows 8 Enterprise is pirated, then GTFO

If your Windows 8 Enterprise comes from a company, ask your admin to perform the upgrade. If you're an admin, you should know what to do.
You're assuming that the admin wants to backup all data, then perform an "update" (in our case, an installation from zero is required, so it's not an update, it's a clean install), re-install all previously installed software and do the same thing on every single computer that had Win8 installed. You're assuming too much.

Win 8.1 Enterprise can be updated in-place. It just can't be done through Windows Store. In my case I only need Win 8.1 Enterprise ISO image with the same bits and language as the installed 8.0, and the new 8.1 key. I bet that an experienced admin can set up rule so you only require some automatic installation and reboot into 8.1. If you're working in a small company, the admin can perform a manual update, without any need to reinstall software. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_install/upgrade-from-windows-8-enterprise-to-81-enterprise/eef7cdf2-ff44-4e41-87fe-462dc313e51b

I still don't know why MS decided to make it so difficult to update the Enterprise systems. It's a huge waste of time (money) not to enable the Store update or a Windows Update (Enterprise solutions can restrict whether to enable MS WUpdate or leave only the SysAdmin WUpdate enabled, so as to restrict certain problematic updates).
