I have been experiencing ctd while playing fonv. Here is the message: http://imageshack.us/a/img39/6585/atiumd64dll.png Points to atiumd64.dll. It doesn't happen everytime, about 50/50. When it does it happens within the first 2-3 minutes playing. Anyone else have this problem?

Replace that file from modded drivers.
Thx for the info. Could you point me in the direction of the modded drivers you are referring to?

So no one elses GPU scaling is borked? It only happens to me on 9.00+ drivers (including the June one back when I had Windows 7). Now happening to me on Windows 8 (fresh install)? Or no one elses RGB mode gives massive display corruption (the Y.... color mode doesn't have it. When I say those options give display corruption I mean the entire screen is basically inverted and fked. Purple color, weird ringing. On any game running at a lower resolution than native this happens to it too. So windows desktop and low res games have this issue.
Have you tried removing ALL AMD/ATI drivers and CAPS then running a driver cleaner? Sometimes left over files from previous versions when there is a big change in the driver, CAN create unwanted issues.

So, that main page mentions improved performance for certain games with tir/quad-crossfire modes. Does anyone know if that's a profile-based thing or a genuine improvement in driver behaviour? Obviously I'll test and let everyone know, but I'll be surprised if they're better than the 8.96 Feb 14 drivers. They've been hard to top.

Only 5 fps extra as minimum in bf3? That's a sh1tload dude! Thanks for the info
Yeah 5fps more is considered a lot to some as it could mean the difference between playable and unplayable for some with lower end cards. But if your already pulling in playable frame rates then having a few more your not really going to notice it much are you. Well at least not for me anyways as I generally cap my fps in BF3 to 45 as this is the lowest fps I had for a while before this set and Im so used to playing with it now its hard to change even if its higher lol :P

So overall would anyone suggest this official Beta over the unofficial one? Also in terms of CCC buggyness? 😉
I suggest it for HD 7 series owners, I can't speak for HD 6 series. Give it a go. It has newer drivers.

Skyrim play better than 12.8s? Anyone notice if Skyrim performance is improved than the 12.8's? Thanks.

Nice. :3eyes: :bang: Anybody but me noticed that?
Yeah I think someone messed up...

Finally a driver package that does not create an error log entry upon bootup.

Ugh, can't overclock my HD6950 with these drivers. Any OC causes screen flickering that won't go away until reboot. Edit: OK, overclocking with CCC works perfectly, but Trixx flickers no matter what. I guess I can live with that.
OC programs like Afterburner and Trixx don't work well with latest AMD drivers, and have compatibility issues. CCC should definitely work, but the programs need updated due to changes in the driver code. So it's not just you having issues with OC software.

Oh that's good to hear, thank you. Is there any reason why I never had any trouble on any previous driver updates?
As I had said, AMD/ATI added new driver code, and made some changes to the code. So the OC'ing programs must be udpated to adapt to AMD/ATI's changes. Thus why on older drivers you had no issues.
These are actually worse on Borderlands 2.
Everything is great in Borderlands 2 on this end. Forcing x16 AA cripples the game though, 8xAA and under is fine.

Same problem, could you be a bit more specific?
I downloaded this one: http://www.dllme.com/dll/files/atiumd64_dll.html It seems to have rectified the problem. Just to be on the safe side save a copy of the current atiumd64.dll file before swapping. Remember, you have to be booted into safe mode to swap this file.

Thanks for this. It fixed my problem!

Well, I wish you luck with your new card. I don't think AMD have got to grips with the 7 series yet. I'm thinking it could be my dated motherboard and CPU bottlenecking my card and causing these problems, but I'm certainly not the only one getting random 2D clocks, and my PSU has more than enough juice to handle things. Bah. :bang:
You could be specific on your issues. I have had nothing but a great time with my HD 7970 Crossfire. If you were, maybe we could help you instead of blaming a company first. As you stated about your CPU/MB bottlenecking, this is a very real scenario in your case. We need benchmarks if you would please, and compare to benches with a stronger CPU/Board. Also please pay attention to this part... AMD announced that outdated BIOS can and will conflict with new driver sets, causing undesired performance, aka 2D clock issue. In other words, you may be on to something when you mention outdated CPU/MB. AMD has recommended everybody update to the newest BIOS they have. Sometimes even the newest on older chipsets is still outdated. Also the newer drivers run off of .net 4.0. You can install .net 4.5 to maximize the compatibility/security of .net.

Did you put the leak driver 12.8 or later? It may be due to garbage does not disappear if so uninstall Uninstall 12.9, please clean with Driver Sweeper Please install 12.9 then
Ok, so I thoroughly uninstalled the 12.8 set again following this guide: http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards I was a bit weary of using Driver Sweeper as it doesn't seem to be supported anymore and some users have warned that it may delete important system files. Then I installed the new 12.9 betas and the shadows are gone again when set to ultra in Skyrim. It's weird that it only happens outdoors. Inside, the shadows work fine. I've narrowed it down to one line in the SkyrimPrefs.ini: iShadowMapResolution=4096 If I set this value to 2048 (1/2) or even 8192 (x2), shadows work outdoors again. The problem is that 2048 looks kind of crappy and 8192 substantially lowers performance. I might just stick with the 2048 shadows and hope that 12.9 official drivers resolve the issue.

Are you 100% positive that is the issue? I have shadows set to 4096 and they work fine. Maybe its conflicting with a mod or another setting in the inf?

Well I deleted my ini and had Skyrim generate a new one with Ultra shadows. Loaded the game without any mods or added meshes/textures and still the same result. Maybe it's specific to single card 7970 setups as you're running crossfire. Not a huge deal as these are beta drivers but I thought there was a similar issue in an earlier driver set (don't remember which one). I'll be annoyed if the next official set has this issue.

Hmm, well that is a strange issue. I'll try disabling Crossfire a bit later and try it out to see what happens.

Well I still have outdoor shadows, even with Crossfire on. Trees were casting shadows as well as my character and rocks etc. Not sure what to say about it.
