AdoredTV........ Are you ok bro?? I think you need to talk to that "leaker" o_O Anyhow, that 12 core CPU looks amazing, for $499 you get a 12 core 24 thread CPU @ 4.6GHz with a stupid amount of cache, 15% better IPC than previous gen, all within a 105W TDP!! This basically means that any X370 boards that supports the 2700X should support this chip easily. Either way, that will be a day one buy from me! EDIT: Maybe they are holding back the 16 core CPU that has been rumoured so much, maybe that will have a 5GHz boost on 1 or 2 cores. They are probably holding something back to see what Intel counters with.

3700X here we come

That R9 3900X is looking mighty tasty. It is a shame though that here in Canada, the price is going to suck. It is going to end up costing 750-800 Canadian after tax here, which is bullshit. Not too impressed about that at all.
The Core i7 9900K is 580$MSRP and we pay 650$CAD before tax. See for yourself: https://www.newegg.ca/core-i9-9th-gen-intel-core-i9-9900k/p/N82E16819117957 With QC tax, it's 747.50$CAD. So, I would imagine ~80-100$ less for the R9 3900X. Give or take. Since the R9 3900X is 499$MSRP. So, not as much as you are giving out to be.

So the 5 Ghz mantra is still out of reach even on 7 nm??? Thunders and strikes!!! Meanwhile at intel: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/intel-to-release-core-i9-9900ks-processor-runs-5-ghz-on-all-eight-cores.html So the "leaks" were false or a big marketing campaign and also nobody "leaked" the 9900ks - it just appeared from thin air...hmm Now before amd fanboys hitting back in anger these are very good times for us the consumers: finally intel has an opponent and they will have to think twice before setting the price on their premium CPU's. The TDP for all the AMD 7 nm family seems kind of high - in the 14 nm range from intel + x570 chipset needs active cooling but of course Dr. Su is adorable like always.

oh your god, this is it

Canadians whining about prices is hilarious.

With its improved IPC, AMD probably decided the 12 core is enough to counter Intel at this time. Although it was possible to get those 16 cores, much like Intel did for so many years AMD held back because of the lack of competition in this segment.

They got nothing to counter until we know the performance of Matisse for gaming. "First 12 cores gaming CPU" is not very encouraging.
They have stated the gaming performance of the X3800 is on par with that of the 9900K... which if you include the clocks and IPC gain would be around 5GHz equivelent to Intels. The X3700 was on par gaming wise with the 9700K the X3700 boosts to 4.4GHz while the 9700K boosts to 4.9GHz, while beating it in multi core workloads which for a 65w part is impressive So although they have not hit the 5GHz mark the fact they can perform while being 500-600Mhz lower clocked isn't bad at all. GHz isn't everything.

I want to see hilbert review on the 3900x, i want to see real gaming benches if it beats intel.
data/avatar/default/avatar23.webp
im definitly swapping my 2700x for either the 3800x or 3900x, depends on price here in canada, it ll be time to swap my 1080ti and my m2 ssd into my ryzen system and game on it... good buy mighty 7700k at 5.05ghz.

"First 12 cores gaming CPU" is not very encouraging.
that can be interpreted in many different ways i mean for the 3800x to be faster it means the 9900k HAS to bottleneck the Gpu even a bit ...as far none of the cpu's bottleneck the card ...then the gaming performance is the same
data/avatar/default/avatar34.webp
What's with Canadians whining when they still got it better than 90% of the world. Anyways a bit disappointing but let's see the reviews in 6 weeks.

@Hilbert Hagedoorn Do steal one and take it back home to your lab so we can get some benches asap 😉

NZ$503.16 + 15% GST (Tax) and the obligatory retailer +50% gouge will most likely see me having to wait another year to upgrade
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/246/246564.jpg
I've said it time and time again, my only criteria is performance. Either they're on par or faster than the 9900K(S) at a given price point or they are not. That said, part of me really hopes they are. I haven't had an AMD system in over 15 years, and there's a little bit of excitement at the thought I may finally get one. Roll on the benchies Hillbert. I won't consider buying a CPU until you do your magic.

So that's probably going to be a 3800x for me. All depends on prices and reviews. Oh ye, also need to know memory sweet spot.

I'm water cooled at 5.2ghz I need no upgrades yet. Nice prices though. Also my ipc is still better.
And it only costs you $25 a month just to turn it on, plus the AC bill for the room it's in. The 9900k is a toy for people with no sense of perspective on what they are losing to get those speeds.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/225/225706.jpg
You can have a Intel 9900k for 535€ in Estonia, just for comparison. 9700k for 410€, 9600k is 277€. These seem quite interesting with all the cache and pcie lanes. How are your guys' experience about getting more out of them - overclocking? Heard they're pretty much near the cap already.

I'm guessing my 1800x will turn into 3800x/3900x this year.
