I really hope the Broadcom buyout turns out to shake up Qualcomm a bit. They need some more competition other than Samsung!

Maybe now Qualcomm will actually release a chip that doesn't throttle to 20% of its rated speed when used for more than 30 seconds.

So the next step is that AMD goes bankrupt and Intel or Qualcomm buy Radeon graphics. Which would be good 🙂

Not the same thing. One is a mobile chipset designed for lower power cycles along with passive cooling solutions; the other is a dedicated performance monster with a completely different application. You're not comparing apples to oranges here. More like apples to a palm tree.

Unless someone bought out their CPU department as well, and continued its operation, it'd be a disaster. We're at a near monopoly and the market is already horrible for consumers, imagine how terrible it'd be if it was a full monopoly. When I wanted to buy a CPU here were my options for my needs: - Intel i5-4670K - Intel i5-4690K - Intel i7-4770K - Intel i7-4790K With the last one costing a left nut. 4 extremely similar CPUs from the same company. Not exactly a lot of options there.
