"Hellish content" Do they have priests now working at PEGI? Explains a lot. Personally - just slap 21+ on this and everyone is happy. I am almost certain there will be mods very soon that will fix the "cut" content or simply patch it in. Other than that, will be testing it myself today - it works flawlessly 3440x1440 in 21:9, which is great.

AO rating would mean the physical edition wouldn't be sold on certain stores, including XBox and Playstation I believe so the rating is available but it's also avoided by everyone unless it's PC exclusive and even then Steam don't like it either so unrated tends to be what certain indie games do although Outlast 2 was recently updated with it's uncensored content via a PC only update though they did not update the age rating I believe. (Some of the VN or "shock" games on Steam push certain content a lot farther than this and a few other titles do though but Valve is only now being a bit more active with checking what actually gets released.) From the forum posts they also toned down or changed in-game content even if they didn't have to outright cut more than whatever is going on in those two endings which a video comparison today should clarify. ("Oh nooo sex!") (Which is pretty much a requirement for the AO rating in the first place even if some publishers can back from having extreme violence or other subject matters even if it would still mostly be M rated though countries like Australia could see a ban on sales.) Downside of siding with a publisher perhaps even if it was Kickstarted originally, on the other hand they secured more funding and made console distribution easier and the game itself isn't different even if the content is slightly modified. But initial reviews also make frequent references to bugs, performance issues and crashes. (But that could be solvable with a patch or two within a few weeks or so.)

Nobody asks you to play it, however, people that backed it from the start wish the get full experience.

I can only assume that this will be way way worse than Senua's Sacrifice? (from a psychological point of view) 🙂

Still have to play Sanua's... it's waiting in my library and on my drive for so long, it's almost haunting me...

Why can't they release an optional uncensored patch at a later time? There have been some games that I have played in which the devs released an optional uncensored patch. Unless there are legal issues with the uncensored content where they can't do that.

Haha I don't suppose you remember the 90s and 00s? Many games were banned or censored in various countries for similar reasons, such as Doom and various games made by Rockstar. Magic the Gathering also had a lot of people trying to ban the game, due to there being demons and other various evils in the game. In MTG, you get to play as the "evil one", so I can understand how some would see that as promoting evil, but still... it's a card game...

Hard not to remember, however in most cases you could work around it by either simply taking a game from another region or getting a certain patch. Which is my guess what will happen with Agony.

Plus Nintendo of America has censored anything with a religious symbol in it such as calling the Cross weapon the boomerang in the North American version of Castlevania or the fire bomb for the holy water. Plus Wolfenstein 3d was banned in Germany for obvious reasons Nazi related material.

It wasn't banned, but censored, the Nazi symbols were replaced with... the Wolfenstein logo. Since that time I've boycotted the series because the matter is more difficult because of the history and laws here. The thing is, you are free to use the symbols and the swastika when you do it in some form of an art, be it pictures, music, movies and shows, books, etc. The thing is, video games are not considered an art by law (movies are... yea right, with today's Hollywood lens flare palooza...). So they are not allowed to use those symbols here, and that's why they had to change that. Graphically, I could even live with it, but sadly German dubs also have been really bad, so I skipped those games altogether. I don't promote censorship, especially because it's silly to NOT kill Nazis in a legislative environment that tries everything to fight the rise of nationalism and fascism for over 70 years now.

Really I went to various websites and they said Wolf3d was banned in Germany for having Nazi related stuff in it including the Nazi Anthem. Yeah I am against censorship my self because it takes away from the original work.

I really liked it at first, but now when they expanded to outdoors, added extra stuff, etc.. it started to look a bit boring. Also all this visual gore crippling going on makes me less and less interested.

Anyone remember Ghouls 'n Ghosts which had to be changed for some counties. They changed it to Ghouls 'n Goblins for US market license. Germany was the first to start banning stuff, FC1 was banned until they removed gore. Even CSGO got banned because of rag doll.

Your story reminds me of that game that was banned in certain countries, SOLDIER OF FORTUNE.
