AMD would like to share a preview of AMD's 12.1 Catalyst driver. Not only does this driver raises the bar on performance and fixes a few issues, but it also introduces quite a few new features, as well as UI enhancements. You'll find the list of changes below.

AMD HD3D technology support enhancement
Enables support for AMD HD3D technology in conjunction with AMD CrossFireX configurations
Delivers a new Stereo 3D mode over HDMI 1.4a connections - 1080p at 30Hz is now enabled on supported displays.

AMD released a new 11.11a Catalyst performance driver.

Batman Arkham City

• Improves DirectX 11 performance for single GPU and CrossFireX configurations

Rage

• Delivers AMD CrossfireX performance scaling
• Resolves a number of image / stability issues seen with the title:
• Fix geometry corruption, sometimes seen in Bash TV entrance
• Fix issues with Low-memory conditions on 32bit systems.
• Fix issue with extreme corruption with missing textures on 32bit systems.
• Fix memory leaks when deleting/reusing sync objects.
• Fix hitching and pausing, especially noticeable on some Quad Core systems when doing races and Stanley Express runs.
• Fix some missing shadows

Elder Scrolls Skyrim

• Improves performance 2-7% on single GPU configurations

AMD Catalyst

AMD has compiled a performance driver for Rage, you can download it over here. The company claims significant performance gains, but it's only for Radeon HD 5000/6000 cards and only for Windows 7, both 32 and 64-bit are supported.

Hours after NVIDIA released its Battlefield 3 optimised GeForce driver suite, AMD also releases a similar driver of its own, the AMD Catalyst 11.10 Preview driver. We have an open discussion thread on these drivers right here.

Preview drivers are essentially BETA hotfix drivers. The new Catalyst software suite makes your ATI/AMD Radeon graphics card (that meets minimum/recommended requirements) optimized for Battlefield3. Its changelog follows:

• Improves performance in Battlefield 3 Open Beta release for both non-Anti-Aliasing, and application enabled Anti-Aliasing cases on the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 Series for single GPU configurations
• Enables support for Eyefinity 5x1 display (portrait and landscape) configurations using the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 Series

A new AMD Catalyst 11.8 Preview Driver OpenGL 4.2 (8.88.8 August 8) for both Windows Vista and 7 32 and 64-bit is out for grabs.

The new drivers will bring with them support for AMD's new Fusion "Llano" A-series accelerated processing units (APUs), which embed AMD Radeon HD 6000 series GPU components. The drivers are WHQL-signed.

Resolved Issues for the Windows 7 Operating System
This section provides information on resolved known issues in this release of the AMD Catalyst 11.7 software suite for Windows 7. These include:

• All issues experienced with mouse cursor lag have been resolved
• Resolves system hangs seen in the AMD Catalyst 11.6 driver on specific HDMI and DP displays
• Log event (Event ID 62464) issues when playing video content have been resolved
• Bluray playback using PowerDVD 10 under High Performance mode no longer randomly displays a blank screen.
• Bluray playback using PowerDVD 10 under High Performance mode no longer randomly hangs.
• Some Divx format files no longer display video corruption using WinDVD.
• AVIVO Video Quality settings are now correctly applied to Flash Video Content.
• AMD SteadyVideo is now applied to Home Video clips when using WinDVD 10.
• Random screen corruption is no longer displayed when changing desktop themes.
• Chequerboard corruption is no longer displayed intermittently when playing DirectX 10 titles in a Crossfire configuration with
• Eyefinity enabled.
• Shogun II now renders the cinematics correctly when run in various Eyefinity configurations.
• Video playback now works correctly when Hardware acceleration is enabled with VLC Player version 1.1.9.
• 720P Divx video clips no longer display stuttering when played using Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player.
