AGESA 1.2.0.2 Update Reduces Inter-Core Latency in AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPUs

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 31

teaser
Recent testing indicates that AMD's latest AGESA (AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture) update, version 1.2.0.2, significantly reduces inter-core latency in Ryzen 9000 series processors. This update addresses previously reported issues with high latency between cores, particularly in the context of the Zen 5 architecture. Prior to this update, users observed that the core-to-core latency for Ryzen 9000 series CPUs was approximately 180 nanoseconds when using AGESA version 1.2.0.1A. This latency was notably higher than that of the previous generation of Ryzen CPUs, raising concerns about potential performance impacts in latency-sensitive applications, including gaming and benchmarking scenarios. Testing conducted by enthusiasts on the Overclock.net forums has shown that with AGESA version 1.2.0.2, the cross-CCD (Core Complex Die) latency has been reduced to around 75 nanoseconds.
