Toshiba Electronic Components Taiwan Corporation has unveiled the Mx11 family of helium-sealed, high-capacity hard disk drives (HDDs). The Mx11 family includes two series: the MG11, offering up to 24 TB with conventional magnetic recording (CMR), and the MA11, which provides up to 28 TB using shingled magnetic recording (SMR). These new HDDs are designed to meet the growing data storage demands while improving power efficiency and managing operational costs. Both series feature a 10-disk, helium-sealed, 3.5-inch, 7,200 rpm design. Toshiba's flux control microwave assisted magnetic recording (FC-MAMR) technology enhances performance and reliability. The Mx11 drives come with a 1 GiB buffer, a workload rating of 550 TB per year, and a mean time to failure (MTTF) of 2.5 million hours. The annualized failure rate (AFR) is 0.35%.
