Security software outfit Avast are trying to figure out why the combination of recent Windows patches and updates to the latter company's software are breaking PCs. Hordes of users have found that their PCs, especially those running Windows 8 and 8.1, grind to a halt after they apply both Microsoft's recent KB3000850 update rollup and Avast's latest automatic updates.

Ubisoft Taunts Software pirates with missing FOV control in Far Cry 4

Ubisoft is taking a smear out of software pirates by disabling FOV control on illegal downloaded versions of Far Cry 4. A good number of players are complaining online about the lack of field of view control, it turns out Ubisoft disabled this feature via a day-one patch to troll pirates. Well, good on them, if you play the game then just buy it.

Corning Says Gorilla Glass 4 Its Strongest Glass Yet

Corning today announced Gorilla Glass 4 for mobile devices. Corning said its goal with Gorilla Glass 4 was to address consumers' biggest complaint: screens that crack when dropped. The company developed new methods for dropping devices onto rough, hard surfaces and spent thousands of hours analyzing smartphone glass that had broken in the field. Corning claims Gorilla Glass 4 is twice as strong as any other glass on the market. Moreover, Gorilla Glass 4 can survive 80% of drops from one meter onto hard surfaces, such as asphalt or concrete. Despite the increase in strength, Gorilla Glass 4 is thin and clear, making it ideal for devices such as smartphones. Gorilla Glass 4 is already sampling with select device makers. Corning didn't say when it is expected to reach consumer products.
