Google will be releasing revision 5.0 of its Android operating system, codenamed Lollipop, upcoming Friday. Google describes the update as a "quantum leap forward", thanks to its revamped design and new features.

You can now download 3DMark Windows v1.4.778, Futuremark released a 2nd build this week as there was an issue. This build fixes the "Workload Single init returned error message: bad lexical cast" issue affecting some systems.

Good times for Intel as they reported third-quarter revenue of $14.6 billion, operating income of $4.5 billion, net income of $3.3 billion and EPS of $0.66. The company generated $5.7 billion in cash from, paid dividends of $1.1 billion, and used $4.2 billion to repurchase 122 million shares of stock.

AMD's partnership with Asustek Computer is growing tighter and the CPU maker reportedly will use Zen to name its next-generation desktop APU platform for 2016 and their expanding cooperation is also expected to influence the desktop market, according to sources from the upstream supply chain. 

Microsoft writes that Windows 10 Tech Preview registrations have passed the 1 million mark. 36 percent of these installations are running in virtual machines and that 68 percent of users are launching more than 7 apps per day.

Hackers have been using a zero-day exploit in Windows to spy on numerous high-ranking agencies across the EU and the world. Among those affected we have NATO, several Western governments, EU energy and telecommunications companies and even an undisclosed US academic organizations. This report, cited by the New York Times, comes from a cybersecurity company named iSight.
