For a long time there have been many rumors on the new Maxwell based graphics cards from Nvidia. Two weeks ago the release date was shared to be 19 September through a teaser. Several photo's and even benchmarks have surfaced as well. Now the GTX 980 specs have leaked as well, according to the source being the final specs. EIZO announced the release of the DuraVision FDF2305W, a 23-inch full HD monitor for security and surveillance equipped with EIZO's Smart Insight visibility-enhancing technology. The DuraVision FDF2305W is equipped with DVI-D 24 pin and D-Sub mini 15 pin inputs for digital and analog signal support respectively. It also has two HDMI inputs which support both PC and AV signals and can be connected to video cameras, recorders, and other AV devices.

AOC is rolling out an innovative and patent-pending, solution called Anti-Blue Light technology to protect users against the damaging effects of blue light from LED-backlit computer screens. Like Ultra-Violet light waves (UV) from the sun, extended overexposure to shortwave blue light (380-450 nm) from LED-backlit devices can be a contributor to vision impairments. 

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, announced today that it has begun mass producing its six gigabit (Gb) low-power double data rate 3 (LPDDR3) mobile DRAM, based on advanced 20 nanometer (nm) process technology. The highly-efficient new mobile memory chip will enable longer battery run-time and faster application loading on large screen mobile devices with higher resolution.

Researchers at NC State have developed a new method to control the interfacial energy of a liquid metal via electrochemical deposition (or removal) of an oxide layer on its surface using ~1 volt. Liquid metals have very large surface tension and therefore typically adopt a spherical shape. Surfactants, like soap, can lower the interfacial tension between two dissimilar liquids (for example, water and oil), but have negligible impact on the large interfacial tensions of liquid metal. Unlike conventional surfactants, the approach here can tune the interfacial tension of a metal significantly (from ~7x that of water to near zero), rapidly, and reversibly using only modest voltages. These properties can be harnessed to induce new electrohydrodynamic phenomena for manipulating liquid metal alloys based on gallium, which may enable shape-reconfigurable metallic components in electronic, electromagnetic, and microfluidic devices without the use of toxic mercury. The results also suggest that oxides—which are ubiquitous on most metals and semiconductors—may be harnessed to lower interfacial energy between dissimilar materials.
