At Computex next week FutureMark will be showing Sky Diver, a brand new benchmark test for 3DMark. They are in the final stages of testing right now. If all goes well, FM will announce the launch date during Computex.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a review on one as Nvidia did not even inform media and press of this launch. It is interesting to see all board partners launch GeForce Titan Z as a gaming product, whilst Nvidia launches it as a 'proffesionsl' series card. Anyway, AIB partners have launched their cards. Officially, Microsoft stopped releasing automatic public updates for Windows XP over a month ago after over 12 years. Now a registry hack has been found that, when placed in the OS, allows it to continue receiving updates. By making a few changes in the registry of XP, the hack basically tricks the automatic update servers at Microsoft into thinking the OS is Windows Embedded POSReady 2009.

Yesterday AMD released a new Beta 14.6 driver, and it became apparent rather fast that Windows 8.0 was not supported. Initially I figured this to be a mistake in the installer, but AMD is doing this deliberately. Starting from AMD Catalyst driver version 14.6 AMD will no longer support Windows 8.0.

AOC will launch the u2868Pqu, a 4K LCD display with a suggested pricing of 649 EUR. The monitor uses a TN panel with 3860x2160 pixel resolution. It accepts 60 Hz signals using DisplayPort, says AOC. It will be marketed as a gaming monitor and AOC boasts a 1ms (g2g) response time. It can also be connected to a PC via VGA, DVI and HDMI 1.4, but you cannot feed it with a 60 Hz 4K signal through these inputs.

Over at Expreview a handful of photo's leaked of what seems to be the GeForce GT 740. This would be an entry level graphics card with a whopping 384 Shader cores, 32 TMUs, 16 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 1 GB of memory.

Newer Technology announced a new 5 TB + 5 TB capacity for the Guardian MAXimus line of dual-bay, high-performance external storage solutions. A Japanese research team developed a technology to drastically improve the writing speed, power efficiency and cycling capability (product life) of a storage device based on NAND flash memory (SSD). The team is led by Ken Takeuchi, professor at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering of Chuo University. The development was announced at 2014 IEEE International Memory Workshop (IMW), an international academic conference on semiconductor memory technologies, which took place from May 18 to 21, 2014, in Taipei. The title of the thesis is "NAND Flash Aware Data Management System for High-Speed SSDs by Garbage Collection Overhead Suppression."
