eBay Hacked -- change your passwords

It is nearly mind boggling that this news reaches consumers so incredibly late, auction site eBay is forcing users to change their passwords after a cyber-attack compromised its systems. The US firm said a database had been hacked between late February and early March, and had contained encrypted passwords and other non-financial data.

Nvidia learned the hard way that the mobile telephone and tablet market is harsh, brutal and monopolized. In an interview with CNET NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang pretty much dropped a bomb when I learned that Nvidia is no longer targeting smartphones and tablets with Tegra. They are no longer focussing on that that market.

Crucial MX100 SSD will get 16nm NAND Memory

While a lot of SSD manufacturers are still migrating to 20 and 19nm NAND, Crucial seems to be moving to 16nm already. Last year at this timeframe they already announced the production and intention to make 16nm NAND flash, but their upcoming MX100 SSD will be announced soon, and has Micron's 128 Gigabit 16 nm-manufactured MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash.

Return of AMD FX processors within two years

AMD mentioned that the FX processor will be making a return in two years time. Very little information otherwise is shared really, there is no mention about the new architecture except that it will be developed from the ground up, it will not be a derivative of the Bulldozer architecture but a totally new  high performance x86 (x86-64) architecture.

AMD loses GPU marketshare in Q1 2014 - NVIDIA flat

Jon Peddie Research reports shipments of graphics chips have gone down 4 percent year-over-year and 11 percent quarter-over-quarter in Q1 2014. Compared to the previous quarter, AMD was the biggest losers as the company saw its shipments decline by 18.2 percent, whereas NVIDIA dropped just 10.4 percent while Intel saw a decline of 7.9 percent. In terms of marketshare, this means Intel gained 1.7 percent, NVIDIA remained flat and AMD declined 1.6 percent.

Dell: Alienware-Steam Machine is the least profitable System Ever

A top manager from Dell stated that he thinks that the Alienware-Steam Machine is going to be the least profitable system they have ever produced. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal General manager of the Alienware devision Frank Azor is not amused at all, he states that it is going to be a challenge to make any profit on these machines. He doubts that the platform can compete with the Sony Playstation 4 and Xbox One from Microsoft.

Windows 9, codename Threshold, is rumored for an April 2015 release date. This information is known and comes from Paul Thurrott, a well-known Microsoft insider. Now, according to a new rumor, Microsoft will offer a preview version of the new operating system sometime around February of 2015. Similar to the Developer Preview or Consumer Preview of Windows 8, Microsoft is rumored to offer a public preview build of Windows 9 sometime between Q2 or Q3 of 2015 (around February or March of 2015.

YouTube to Acquire Twich

According to several sources Google’s YouTube has a deal to buy Twitch, a popular videogame-streaming company, for more than $1 billion, according to sources familiar with the pact. The deal, in an all-cash offer, is expected to be announced imminently, sources said. If completed the acquisition would be the most significant in the history of YouTube, which Google acquired in 2006 for $1.65 billion.
