Intel Core i7 4771 benchmarks surface, as fast as 4770

Intel is will launch its Core i7 4771 in the fall to take its premium line to 2014 when it plans to launch a refresh of Haswell. The new Core i7-4771 will be the replacement of the Core i7-4770. It has only been three months since the latter was released by Intel is introducing its upgraded version already. The new core i7-4771 has similar specs including the 100 MHz core bump of 3.5 GHz base. Turbo frequency is also at at 3.9 GHz. VR-Zone got its hands on a copy of the chip early to run some benchmarks.

Intel is prepping slowly but steadily to release their upcoming  Core i7 "Ivy Bridge-E" processors. According to latest data, Intel will release in September 10 no less than three Ivy Bridge-E processors namely the Core i7-4960X, Core i7-4930K and Core i7-4820K. Ivy Bridge E can be used on Intel X79 socket 2011 based motherboards, even the older ones albeit they all will need a BIOS update.

Asus’s Jonney Shih has made some crazy bets over the years — teeny-tiny laptops, phones that turn into tablets, and even a seven-inch tablet that can be held to the ear to make phone calls. shih1 But, so far, the only bet that Shih said hasn’t panned out was the company’s move to build products based on Windows RT, the slimmed-down version of Windows 8 that runs on ARM-based processors. Asus is pulling back on Windows RT, Chairman Says.

Chromecast hacked by GTVHackers

GTVhacker researcher has found his way into Root Access to explore more about the device. The day they got their hands on the dongle, they got cracking at it and found a bug during their initial code audit. The hacker who goes by the name "CJ Heres (@cj_000)" developed a secure boot exploit and hopes it'll help developers explore the platform and build custom software. He found that, contrary to Google's claim, the Chromecast appears to be more Android than ChromeOS.

Flying Drone Lands And Then Walks Creepily

The thing that you see above, a prototype drone designed by researchers from Switzerland's Lausanne Polytech, could be the first sign that we might see a lot of transformer robots in the distant future. The drone is coming with a capability which sets it apart from all other drones out there: it can walk with its wings. The DALER or Deployable Air Land Exploration Robot comes equipped with wings mounted on shafts that can be locked or rotated. When in the flying mode the wings will be locked, but after landing the wings are unlocked enabling rotation and allowing the drone to move on the ground.

Internal AMD documents that have been exposed by vr-zone detail that the company’s HSA APU efforts and show that Kaveri has a target launch date in 2014. While we can’t post the original documents, we can say that they confirm rumors posted elsewhere naming “Carrizo” as the successor to Kaveri, and that Kaveri would be delayed until 2014.

Intel’s Broadwell now scheduled for 2014

In a new roadmap is seems that Intel will focus a lot on Ultrabook and “2-in-1” devices. Intersting is Intel’s desktop efforts on 2014 for the  Z97, which will be based on a refreshed Haswell architecture. Intel is also planning to launch Ivy Bridge – E in September, which should take the architecture to the 4.0 GHz level on turbo. Come H2 2014, its forecasted that Intel will refresh the channel with Haswell-E that features DDR4.

Life-Sized Interactive Hologram Isn't Sci-Fi Anymore

The holographic technology startup Provision 3D Media has successfully produced 3D floating virtual images up to 52 inches large, and now it's setting out to develop a working life-sized hologram. The startup is trying to raise $950,000 on Kickstarter to develop and test the prototype. "From the moment Princess Leia materialized in 1977, Holograms would forever be tied to the vision of our future," the Kickstarter page says. "Science Fiction has shown us what's next. Now it's time to make it happen."
