Battlefield 3: Aftermath Officially Announced

DICE and Electronic Arts revealed a new expansion pack for Battlefield 3. Aftermath is set in Tehran, Iran in the aftermath of an earthquake and depicts "a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation."

The content will include vertical and horizontal urban combat, as players seek cover in the cracks and fissures caused by the quake. "Heavily modified" troop transports and civilian vehicles "specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy" will also be included. Aftermath will add four new maps and a new game mode, as well as new assignments, achievements and dog tags. While no official release date is listed, EA said the content would arrive in December when Aftermath was announced during E3.

Crucial m4 mSATA SSDs

Micron Japan will release a new line of mSATA SSDs, the Crucial m4. Coming in four different capacities: 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, these SSDs are equipped with a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and promise to deliver read/write speeds of up to 440/50 MB/s (32GB Model), 500/95 MB/s (64GB Model), 500/260 MB/s (128GB & 256GB Models), respectively. The Crucial m4 mSATA SSDs will start shipping from late July for 5,100 Yen (about $65), 7,200 Yen (about $92), 11,800 Yen (about $151) and 23,800 Yen (about $305), respectively.

ASUS 144 HZ Monitor -- VG278HE

In the past few years 120 Hz monitors have been the preferred choice for gamers but here comes the next step. Asus has announced the first 144 Hz monitor, designed to make gaming performance in 2D and 3D even smoother.

Asus has announced a new 27-inch monitor and the successor to the VG278H. The new model is called VG278HE and is the first monitor to implement a 144 Hz-enabled panel. This adds an extra of 24 pictures per second over 120 Hz monitors. Asus says that this should improve 2D and 3D gaming even further but the true performs remains to be tested.

Asus VG278HE is based on a TN panel with 1920x1080 pixel resolution and 2 ms (g2g) response time. The monitor also supports Nvidia 3D Vision 2. However, the system is not integrated so you have to buy the kit separately.

Asus also says that the monitor includes HDMI, dual-link DVI and D-SUB (VGA) inputs. 2x3W stereo speakers are built in and a mini-jack output lets users to connect headphones. The monitor is designed with swivel, tilt and height adjustment.

Eizo ColorEdge CG246 24.1-Inch LCD Monitor

Eizo has introduced another one of its upcoming LCD monitor, the ColorEdge CG246. Designed for professionals in digital photography, graphic design, video editing and post-production, this new 24.1-inch IPS monitor provides 1920 x 1200 native resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 7.7ms response time and 178/178 degree viewing angles.

The monitor also comes with a built-in calibration sensor, which corresponds to the auto-calibration in accordance with the schedule, and features a DVI-I port, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort and a 2-port USB hub. Radeon HD 7990 Further Delayed

While the card was never 'announced' officially for a release in the the first place, the release of this dual-GPU card was expected in late July. Sources now indicate that there will be no AMD consumer product releases in August at all.  

Known under the codename "New Zealand", Radeon HD 7990 represents AMD's highest-end part from the Southern Islands architecture. Consisting out of two Tahiti XT GPUs and 6GB GDDR5 memory (special edition 7990s could reach 12GB), Radeon HD 7990 goes head to head against the GeForce GTX 690.

By default, AMD has the advantage in terms of 50% more video memory (GTX 690 has 4GB), significantly higher memory bandwidth and the new Turbo mode, technology similar to the Turbo mode used on NVIDIA Kepler-based cards with a few major differences.

HIS Radeon HD 7750 iCooler Graphics Card

The 7700 series are great graphics cards to build great light PCs or a HTPC with, HIS just announced the Radeon HD 7750 iCooler low-profile graphics card.

The card is designed to provide mid-range DirectX 11 performance to slim form-factor (SFF) PCs, and HTPCs. The card is designed with a half-height PCB, but its active air cooler spans across two expansion slots in your system. To keep its temperatures in check, HIS opted for the older AMD reference GPU clock speed of 800 MHz. AMD recently updated that to 900 MHz. The memory is clocked at 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5-effective).

The cooler uses a monolithic aluminum heatsink which cools the GPU, VRM, and memory chips on the obverse side of the PCB. The heatsink is ventilated by two 40 mm fans. HIS claims that the cooling solution has its noise output under 28 dBA. Display connectors include dual-link DVI, HDMI 1.4a, and D-Sub. HIS includes low-profile brackets with the card.

Konami has released the first Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 demo. PES 2013 demo features eight fully licensed teams. Germany, England, Portugal, and Italy showcase European football, while Santos FC, SC International, Fluminense and Flamengo Flamengo are available in the Copa Libertadores mode. Furthermore, PC gamers will be able to adjust the difficulty level to their liking.  The game is currently scheduled for a Fall 2013 release on X360, PS3, PC, PS2, PSP, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii.
