NVIDIA: 30 Tegra 3 smartphones coming

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

NVIDIA released information that there are 30 Tegra 3 based smartphones on the way in 2012, double as much as the Tegra 2's design wins. NVIDIA GM Mike Rayfield also added that many of these phones will be less expensive, 13 of them will have a "transfer price" of under $300.

The graphics firm also announced that the company's next-gen "Grey" Tegra will integrate the Icera 500 LTE chip:
While he didn't provide many details, he told investors that the i500 will have next-gen LTE speeds beyond what we've seen thus far, and it will be the modem paired with the company's next-gen Tegra processor for "Grey," the company's first integrated LTE silicon. We won't see Grey until next year, but Nvidia promises that its standalone Icera LTE technology will arrive later in 2012 with the aforementioned Icera 410.

Google preps cheap 7-Inch Tablet Appearing In June?

Laptop 99 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

There have been several rumors about this already, but they do seem to substanciate.

It seems that Google's is to relase their own 7-inch tablet PC whicch is scheduled to launch in July. There will be an initial batch of only 600,000 units shipping as early as June though.  Word of mounth is that Asus is co-developing the device and the entry-level tablet will cost around $200 or less.

The tablet's inner details aren't known but we can probably expect Android 4.0 and maybe a quad-core chip. The Google 7-inch tablet could easily go up against existing Android 7-inchers that dominate; the Kindle Fire. The tablet might even come at a time that will help it compete against the rumored iPad Mini. If the tablet is really coming as early as June, I'm sure we'll here more official news about the device soon enough. Honestly, it strikes me as being a little odd that Motorola (which now finally belongs to Google) wasn't involved in the device's development. Who knows for sure. At least for a bit longer, I'd take this news with a grain of salt.
