Corsair Carbide 500R review

PC Cases and Modding 235 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Corsair went back to the drawing board and improved that 400R model towards an updated SKU, the 500R. They added more meshed vents, a new 200 fan was added, a three step fan controller and tweaked the overall design a little as well with removable and relocatable hard drive cages allowing you to even insert a 452mm in length graphics card. But wait Dave .. there's more.

KFA2 GTX 570 MDT Photo's Leak

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

KFA2 are working on a new revision of the GeForce GTX 570 to spice up the Christmas season a little I guess. This is their MDT card which will launch next month. MDT stands for Multi Display Technology meaning you can game on multiple monitors with just one card.

The card will support quad 1080p displays with surround gaming up to three displays up-to 1920x1080p.

As you can see the card has DVI-D x3, Dual-link DVI x1, Mini-HDMI. We do know that the card will come overclocked straight out of the box.

Admittedly, that's a cool looking card with  that custom Aluminum cooler and Black PCB. Anyway, check out the photo's we have been able to snag:

LeadTek WinFast GTX 560 Ti Hurricane Graphics Card

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Leadtek Research Inc., known globally for its extreme visual graphics technology, added the new WinFast GTX 560 Ti Hurricane graphics card to the Fermi II generation family for enthusiasts. It features dual 90 mm fans, two 8 mm cooper heat-pipes, a large copper base and many fan fins equipped behind the GeForce Fermi 114 chipset, which can reduce temperature more effectively than the standard version containing only two 6 mm cooper heat-pipes from the chipset manufacture. This not only means improvements in the thermal solution but also in noise emission. Only 21 dB is measured during idle time, and even during peak time, it is just 43 dB. Leadtek will release more dual fan design graphics cards, naming them

Nexus New Prominent R Case

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

The Nexus Prominent R case is about to be released as a silent chassis. It's toolless installation features make it a breeze to install your components or change your set-up. The sleek professional look and materials make the case fit in anywhere.

The Prominent R have a black painted interior which is great looking. Preinstalled are two 120mm Real Silent Nexus Fan. There is noise absorption material on the side panels and isolating padding where the PSU is placed to prevent resonance, ventilation holes (and room for a fan) in the bottom of the case for air-intake and high feet (with rubber pads) keep the case elevated from the floor to make a smooth airflow possible and eliminate resonance. There is cable and fan management and on top we have an external SATA Dock, USB3.0, USB2.0, eSATA and audio connectors.

The Nexus Prominent R will be available around October 25th. BTW is it just me or does this chassis look a lot like a CM 690 II ?

Palit GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin light LE review

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

After the initial launch reference reviews NVIDIA's partners released more customized solutions onto the market for the GeForce GTX 560 Ti series. The Twin Light Turbo Edition we test today comes with a custom PCB and a new heatpipe cooler that will hopefully bring good temperatures versus low noise levels. That new cooler is the shiznit though as honestly, it's an innovative and just really good looking cooler.

The GeForce GTX 560 Twin Light Turbo Edition tested today indeed comes all customized and is also factory overclocked, albeit very little. The GPU is clocked at 830 MHz and its memory at 4100 MHz, thus both are a slice faster than the reference baseline clocked products.

Intel Ivy Bridge Arrives March of 2012

Processor 721 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

CeBIT time ? A recent report has now made its appearance that suggests the Santa Clara chips maker is considering March for the release of the chips.

The initial processor lineup will be comprised of both dual and quad-core parts for various markets, including desktop and notebooks computers.

Ivy Bridge is the code name used for the 22nm die shrink of the current Sandy Bridge chips and features basically the same architecture, but with a few minor tweaks and improvements.

This includes a new on-die GPU that will come with full DirectX 11 support as well as with 30% more EUs than Sandy Bridge, in order to offer up to 60% faster performance that current Core CPUs according to Intel.

In addition, the processor cores have also received some minor tweaks as their AVX performance was slightly increased and Intel has updated the integrated PCI Express controller to the 3.0 standard.

In the mobile version of Ivy Bridge, all these improvements are paired with a configurable TDP design, which enables the CPU to greatly surpass its maximum thermal design power when additional cooling is provided (like when placed on a notebook cooling stand).

Together with the Ivy Bridge processors, Intel will also release the Z77, Z75, and H77 consumer PCH controllers, but the CPUs will also be compatible with the current LGA 1155 chipsets used for Sandy Bridge.

Intel Launches Core i7-2700K Processor

Processor 721 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Well it was expected for a while now, Intel released its latest performance-segment processor, the Core i7-2700K. The i7-2700K is a quad-core chip in the LGA1155 package, based on the 32 nm "Sandy Bridge" silicon. It is clocked at 3.50 GHz, and features an unlocked base clock ratio multiplier, which makes overclocking possible. It features AVX instruction set, AES native acceleration, HyperThreading (which enables 8 logical CPUs), 256 KB L2 cache per core, and 8 MB of shared L3 cache.

Apart from these, it packs a dual-channel DDR3 integrated memory controller, PCI-Express root complex, and Intel HD 3000 series integrated graphics. The TDP remains consistent with many other Core i5 and Core i7 "Sandy Bridge" chips, at 95W. An interesting development here is that the pricing of Core i7-2700K didn't turn out to be what Amazon and MWave were charging for their pre-orders (around US $380), the retail price of this chip is merely $15 higher than that of the Core i7-2600K, at $332.
