Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Looks like next month AMD is going to introduce a series of new Radeon graphics cards. With each week more and more specs and information leaks on the web. PCinLife (an Asian site) has obtained a slide on the 'Barts' models graphics cards.

It's the slide with all info the true geeks and guru's really like .. AMD's next-generation Radeon HD 6700 series GPUs ... now I'm not going to explain all the tech specs, hey gimme something for the reviews! But you'll notice it has all the info you need to make a good estimated guess on where performance will be. But have a peek at this slide ...

Axle GeForce GTX 460 ACE review

Graphics cards 1054 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

The GeForce GTX 460 comes in many forms, shapes and sizes, but pretty much all of the cards out there are based on the NVIDIA reference design. That by itself is a rock solid design with no compromises at all. However we are gurus and we like to see things with a little niche and that x-factor. As such it\'s always with the greatest pleasure that we review the more customized products. Axle joins in on that trend as well as they recently released a factory overclocked model with an Arctic cooling Accelero Xtreme PRO cooler sitting on top of that GPU.

NVIDIA working on wireless display technology

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Guru3D.com ImageOne of the more nauseating facts that go with a computer hardware testlab is wires .. everywhere and anywhere. Good news on the monitor side though, NVIDIA apparently is working on new wireless technology that allows communication in-between the graphics cards and your display, the focus for this is in fact gamers.

Over at the GPU technology Conference last week scars information was disclosed. Of course it is not something new as Intel has been paving their way on this for a while now with Intel's Wireless Display technology (WiDi).

But the idea is simple, allow a computer to stream content in high quality to a display without the need for cables. Currently there is no information available whatsoever though and that included a launch date of this technology.

AMD Bulldozer to have massive 16MB cache

Processor 721 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

This reallt is impressive, AMD is to increase the processor L2 cache size to 77% over the current generation processors. The upcoming eight-core microprocessors from Advanced Micro Devices based on the Bulldozer micro-architecture that feature Orochi design will get massive internal cache systems compared to current-generation of chips. In total, the top-of-the-range single-die processor will have 16MB of cache, here's the snippet as X-Bit labs reports:

AMD Orochi chip (which is a universal server and client design that will power Valencia, Zambezi and possibly other implementations of first-gen Bulldozer family) will have 8MB unified level-three cache, according to a document seen by X-bit labs. Since eight-core Orochi features four dual-core Bulldozer modules, each of which is believed to have 2MB of shared level-two cache, the whole chip will pack in whopping 16MB of SRAM, a 77% increase from the current six-core microprocessors that have 9MB of cache in total.

Large L2 caches will help AMD's next-generation microprocessors to ensure higher performance in single-threaded applications compared to today's multi-core chips that only have 512KB of L2, whereas massive L3 cache will maximize memory bandwidth. In both cases this will bring notable performance gains compared to today's Stars/Greyhound architecture.

AMD Orochi design is the company's next-generation processor for high-end desktop and server markets. The chip will feature eight processing engines, but since it is based on Bulldozer micro-architecture, those cores will be packed into four modules. Every module which will have two independent integer cores (that will share fetch, decode and L2 functionality) with dedicated schedulers, one floating point unit with two 128-bit FMAC pipes with one FP scheduler. The chip will have shared L3 cache, new dual-channel DDR3 memory controller and will use HyperTransport 3.1 bus. The Orochi chips will use new AM3+ form-factor and will require brand new platforms [via xbitlabs].

Adobe plenoptic lenses is CSI-like photography trick

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Adobe Systems Inc. demonstrated impressive new photography technologies during a recent Nvidia Tech Conference, that would allow users to refocus photos on their computers after the photo was originally snapped. The company used plenoptic lenses, which essentially are many lenses clustered together that are able to focus on different parts of a picture (including the ability to capture 3D images), the result is a mosaic like non-natural group of micro-pictures with an infinite depth of field. Plenoptic lenses are a new technology that uses just a single extra lens and some software to enable you to refocus pictures after the act of taking it

Just check it out, it just is very impressive.
