Though 2D might be fine, but 3D rendering at such resolutions with just the one card is a serious no-go performance wise  ... let's just hope that at least SLI is properly supported with these custom resolutions. Also bare in mind thet the GTX 460 can go maximum 2-way SLI.

Intel has released a new K0 stepping for some of its older dual-core Core i3 and Core i5 processors, as TPU reported. The new stepping will apply a few tweaks and updates within the CPU architecture. Perhaps they OC better as well. These chips will be available on October 16.

Somewhere somehow the speed of web browsers became a pissing contests didn't it ? Google promised that the upcoming Chrome 7 browser will be 60 times faster than Chrome 6!

Microsoft's bold claims are accurate but one has to remember the product is still in beta. Google on the other hand has a remarkable way of dishing out product updates with lightning speed. The web search giant is currently readying Chrome 7 which it claims will be 60 times faster than Chrome 6. 2D graphics performance and canvas acceleration is now available in trunk and canary builds of Chrome 7. "This system picks the best graphics API to use on each OS that Chromium supports: Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS and Linux", wrote James Robinson, Software Engineer at Google - via neowin.

AMD's John Fruehe revealed to TechEye that Bulldozer will start sampling in the fourth quarter of this year.
John Fruehe, director of servers at AMD, said that his company is well placed to compete with Intel in the server and workstation market and is readying a number of initiatives that wll give the big chip company a run for its money.

Fruehe, said that AMD would start to sample Bulldozer cores in the fourth quarter of this year, and would continue to use the same sockets and the same power envelopes to make it easier for companies to migrate to the newer platforms.

Although Fruehe was reluctant to discuss customer wins, he said the fact that IBM, HP and Dell used AMD microprocessors meant there was clear competition in the server marketplace.

The word on the Jesuitical AMD street is that Fusion will knock the lights out of Intel's Sandy Bridge and that is endorsed by quite a few of its partners. AMD partners are often if not always Intel partners of course.

Intel's Mooly Eden told TechEye the same day that its Sandy Bridge processors will be branded as the i3, the i5 and the i7 - Eden describes these as good, better and best, although the world knows they really represent cheap, more expensive and very expensive. Expect to be just as confused when Sandy Bridge machines come out as you are now. Likewise, AMD will roll its Fusion processors into its overall "Vision" brand. Both chip companies seem to agree that us poor little consumers will be confused if we know what the actual specs are for processors.

Intel's Eden thinks that if you're buying an i9 then you are clued up enough to know what it is you are buying, so they are obviously consumers that are thick as planks and clever consumers [via techeye].

We test three AMD processors today, the Phenom II X6 1075T, Phenom II X4 970BE and Athlon II X4 645 processors. They are part of the AMD Q4 processor product line update, arming their processor lineup with more value and higher performing CPUs:

ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 review

We test and review the ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 motherboard. Much to our surprise the motherboard is actually LESS high-end than say a Rampage III Extreme, it does however come with the latest features like USB 3.0, SATA6G and offers nice aesthetics based on a military theme. Another oddity is that the cooling on this motherboard is based on a ceramic design.

Yeah, it is simply a stunning pierce of hardware just to look at alright. This military class design motherboard comes with some nice extra features, offers great performance and overclocks quite well also. All that for a really interesting price.

Modern age mobvile phopnes have turned into small computers. Microsoft is soon rejoining the Mobile OS arena, and this video shows several app tiles on a Windows Phone 7 home screen.

The first is a 3D notes app that allows users to stick notes to the home screen. Some truly impressive 3D effects are shown to demonstrate the notes. The video also demonstrates a weather and stocks application, both with 3D animations. A second video also emerged today showing a HTC Hub interface on a previously unknown HTC Windows Phone 7 device.

Intel's asking customers to pay extra if they want the full power of their store-bought silicon. An eagle-eyed Engadget reader was surfing the Best Buy shelves when he noticed this $50 card -- and sure enough, Intel websites confirm -- that lets you download software to unlock extra threads and cache on the new Pentium G6951 processor.

It's actually a full 1MB of L3 cache that's enabled plus HyperThreading support, which translates to a modest but noticeable upgrade.

This isn't exactly an unprecedented move, as chip companies routinely sell hardware-locked chips all the time in a process known as binning, but there they have a simpler excuse -- binned chips are typically sold with cores or cache locked because that part of their silicon turned out defective after printing. This new idea is more akin to video games that let you "download" extra weapons and features, when those features were on the disc all along. Still, it's an intriguing business model, and before you unleash your rage in comments, you should know that Intel's just testing it out on this low-end processor in a few select markets for now.
