Scythe Rasetsu CPU cooler
Scythe is releasing the Rasetsu, a new CPU cooler with six twisted intersected heatpipes and a Trident Multi Layer Fin (T.M.L.F.) structure that is cooled by a 120mm PWM fan with manual bandwidth adjustment.
Rasetsu combines the outstanding design of the Yasya CPU Cooler with a top-flow layout. The newly developed T.M.L.F. (Trident Multi Layer Fin) structure provides a higher intake volume, thus enabling a more efficient use of the unparallel Six Heatpipe Construction. Equipped with new "Slip Stream 120 PWM Adjustable" fan, user can manually adjust the bandwidth between 470 to 1,370 rpm and 740 to 1,900 rpm. Rasetsu using the VTMS -Versatile Tool-Free Multiplatform System for quick and safe mounting.

Swiftech MCW80 hybrid cooling solution for GTX 480 and 470
Swiftech introduced the MCW80 watercooling block for NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 graphics cards. Both blocks less than $100.
The performance advantage of the MCW80 GPU cooler over full-cover water-block solutions is well known among enthusiast users: improved thermal conductivity thanks to Swiftech's Diamond Pin Matrix, and less heat dumped into the liquid cooling loop coming from memory, I/O and power mosfets since they remain air cooled. Thus, when coupled with the GTX-400 heatsinks, the combination provides a powerful cooling solution that is generally more economical than the average full-cover water-block while offering superior performance where it really counts: at the GPU level!
Another important factor in choosing this type of hybrid cooling solution is that when new graphics cards models are introduced, the Water-block itself can usually be re-used. Numerous users have testified in forums to have been keeping their MCW60 upwards of 5 years, and re-used them with several generations of graphics cards!
The GTX-400 series of heatsinks are custom Aluminum extrusions, and they are precision CNC machined to allow optimum TIM joints with the hottest components such as the voltage regulator modules, where high performance thermal grease is to be used. Less heat intensive components such as memory receive pre-applied thermal pads, as shown below.
In order to provide additional cooling in extreme overclocking/overvolting conditions, the heatsinks feature pre-drilled holes allowing the installation of an optional 80mm fans as shown below. Use of a low profile 80x15mm fan is recommended to maintain the 2-slot spacing necessary for SLI installations.
Finally, to guarantee a safe and stable assembly, a GPU stiffening frame (partl #GTX400) is included that replaces the frame built into the stock cooling solution. This bracket is important to maintain the PCB flat in the immediate area surrounding the GPU. The bracket also serves as an anchor to install the MCW80 waterblock.

CoolIT C240 ALC ECO review
CoolIT C240 ALC ECO review
We test and review the CoolIT C240 ALC ECO CPU cooler. Though these standalone kits are pretty darn good, some of you would prefer to see a product based on not just that 120mm radiator/fan size, but a dual-radiator 240mm product. CoolIT listened, learned and adapted. As such a couple of weeks ago they started selling a dual-radiator (ALC ECO 240) liquid cooling kit.
The products are all based on the ECO series, yet with that bigger radiator and two fans. This should help shave off another 5 to 10 degrees C of the processor temperature.

Fusion-io Next-Generation ioMemory Module
Fusion-io, the pioneer of a new tier of flash-based memory (ioMemory), today announced the availability of its new ioMemory module. With support for the latest generation of MLC NAND Flash, 3X-nanometer (nm), Fusion-io is able to double the capacity of its family of products and achieve up to 1.28 terabytes (TB) of capacity from a single PCI Express card.
"We are at an inflection point in the industry where MLC technology has moved from consumer-grade products to datacenter systems, creating a much needed shift in the enterprise flash market to thinner, smaller, high capacity solutions with more than ample storage," said Joseph Unsworth, Research Director at Gartner.
Fusion's next-generation ioMemory module doubles the capacity of the company's PCI Express-based solutions. When used in concert with Fusion's newly released ioMemory Virtual Storage Layer (ioMemory VSL), the ioMemory technology delivers significant performance enhancements to achieve nearly 300,000 sustained IOPS and more efficient CPU utilization-to-work output than any other solution on the market.
Rather than impersonating a hard drive, Fusion's new ioMemory module offers an extension of the memory hierarchy for servers. Along with providing tighter integration with host systems and applications, the new ioMemory module also includes the following:
- Up to 1.28TB of capacity on a single PCI Express card
- Improved performance up to 285,000 sustained IOPS with under 25 microseconds commit latency
- Guarantees data integrity in the event of power loss
- No failure-prone batteries or super-capacitors needed to protect in-flight data
- Fusion's self-healing Flashback protection that offers Fusion's proprietary, RAID-like chip-level redundancy
- Sustained performance and endurance, even for applications that store compressed data
- Existing ioMemory deployments are field upgradable

PowerColor outs Low Profile Radeon HD 5750
TUL aka PowerColor released a new card that should interest to the HTPC community, a Low Profile Radeon HD 5750 that should be silent.
The card will have it's core running at at 700 MHz and comes with 1GB of 128-bit GDDR5 graphics memory clocked at 4,600 MHz. The card features a good 720 Stream processors, quite a lot for this class of product. I mentioned silent cooling, so that is managed by a dual-slot Arctic Cooling unit with two fans. Connectivity wise we are looking at D-Sub, DVI and DisplayPort outputs.

Intel Buys McAfee for $7.68 Billion
Intel will pay $48 per share in cash for McAfee in its biggest acquisition ever. The price represents a 60 percent premium to McAfee's Wednesday closing price. The pact is the latest in a steady stream of technology deals, including Dell Inc's (DELL.O) $1.3 billion purchase of storage company 3PAR Inc (PAR.N) earlier this week.
The McAfee deal, which caught many analysts by surprise because its marries a chipmaker and a software maker, underscores Intel's determination to continuing expanding beyond the PC market to hot businesses like mobile devices and smartphones.
But, for the moment, the biggest advantage in the deal may be Intel's ability to sell McAfee's software to PC customers. Intel supplies roughly 80 percent of the microprocessors used in PCs.
