Devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy powerline kit tested

Devolo dLAN AV200In this article I wanted to take a look at Ethernet over your power line. This technology has been here for years and is as simple as it can be, you utilize the power sockets in your house to transport a data signal carrying a network signal. All you need are two or more homeplug adapters, also known as Powerline Ethernet adapters. Devolo is the one company that caught my attention. They offer 200 Mbit/sec adapters.

You plug them in, connect one to your PC and another one to say your internet router and you are good to go.

You can check out the review right here.

Intel 3.6GHz Dual-Core Core i5 CPU on the way ?

Processor 721 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Chipzilla Intel is still working another Core i5 dual-core processor. The new model tagged as the Core i5-680 will have a core speed of 3.6GHz.

Despite the higher clocks the TDP will remain at 73W. Being a Clarkdale processor the processor will come with an IGP (integrated graphics core) at a frequency of 733MHz. The CPU will support dual channel DDR3 1333. Pricing wise it is going to be expensive though. Reports claim a 240 Euro price tag (nearly 300 USD). Personally I'd rather purchase a quad-core Core i7 930 or Core i5 750 for that money, but that's just silly old me of course.

Keyboard bacteria can identify you

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Forensic researchers discovered that computer users' hands leave a distinct bacterial print on keyboards and mice, and that it is possible to identify a piece of hardware's primary user simply by swabbing the peripheral for bacteria. The technique isn't as accurate as fingerprints, but it may someday prove useful for fighting crime.
Our skin houses large bacterial ecosystems and, even after washing your hands, the bacterial community is restored within a matter of hours. Scientists have suspected for some time that we might leave "trails" of this skin bacteria on things we touch during the course of a day, and more importantly, that the bacteria might be traceable to individuals. It's not that each person has a unique bacterial species, but that their ecosystems contain different mixes of species, each present at different frequencies.

It wasn't obvious this would work, though. Scientists weren't sure if the range of bacteria we leave on surfaces would be complete enough representation of what's on the skin to narrow its source down to single individual. The bacteria might also change too much during the time they spend on the surface, obscuring their origins.

NVIDIA Forceware 197.15 With OpenGL 3.3 support

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Guru3D.com ImageNVIDIA's developer site is serving new drivers. The main feature is that it is supplying support for openGL 3.3 , within a week of the opengl 3.3 announcement. This set seems to work great as regular driver and does not have fan issues as the previous version had.

The new features in OpenGL 3 require G80, or newer hardware. Thus OpenGL 3.0/3.1/3.2/3.3 is not supported on NV3x, NV4x nor G7x hardware. This means you need one of the following NVIDIA graphics accelerators to use OpenGL 3:
