Just a quick heads-up for one of the few first-person shooters I am looking very much forward to being released this year. Lots of new trailers, screenshots and interesting game details about Wolfenstein can be found at the new official web site.
Currently being developed by Raven Software for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the planned release date is late July of 2009. Wolfenstein is the direct sequel of Return to Castle Wolfenstein and you're once again playing in the role of B.J. Blazkowicz to reveal the secret surrounding The Veil.
So, make sure to check out the new web site for Wolfenstein and have a look at the exclusive new trailer, featured at GameTrailers.com: Exclusive Occult Trailer HD
It's been rumored and actually announced by ATI for whay .. a year now. But as it seems, GPU-accelerated physics is turning out to be the one part of specifications AMD is working on.
NVIDIA of course did well by acquiring Ageia technologies, and its PhysX API. When NVIDIA ported the API to its proprietary CUDA GPGPU architecture they suddenly where one step in front of ATI. Though not hugely popular, PhysX is of course a significant PR-tool apart from a feature that is genuinely grabbing game developers' attention.
As a result AMD's initial reaction was to build strategic technology alliance with the main competitor of PhysX: Havok, despite its acquisition by Intel, yet now is taking it a step further.
In the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC) event, AMD may materialize its plans to bring a GPU-accelerated version of Havok, which has till now been CPU-accelerated. The API has featured in several popular game titles such as Half Life 2, Max Payne II, and some other Valve Source-based titles. ATI's Terry Makedon, in his Twitter-feed has revealed that AMD would put forth its
Funny how that always happens shortly before a product launch eh ? Due to be released in early April specs and photo's already leaked onto the web regarding the pending launch of ATI's Radeon HD 4890.
There's very little that was not revealed really. Below yhou can see photo's of Gigabyte's 4890. Again we spot a reference product armed with 1GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 3900 MHz.
The core clock frequency on this one is also 850 MHz / 256-bit, (55nm GPU) has the reference dual-slot cooler. We expect the Gigabyte Radeon HD 4890 to retail for roughly $249.
I'm slowly starting to think here that it might be wiser to just get a cheaper 1 GB 4870 and overclock it yourself, but that's just Dutch old me, of course.
I was just checking up on retial prices as I regularly do to see if parties like NVIDIA indeed tell us the proper MSRP for our reviews. That's definitely the case.
The GeForce GTS 250 is now 'slowly' getting available, a fair deal really considerering the performance you get returned with that ghraphics card.
Gigabyte is organizing a big overclocking contest. Though the contest is organized globally, this news-item is really adressed to the Dutch and Belgium people. The OC contest is called Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship 2009. The contest is soimple, you need a Gigabyte motherboard and Intel chipset, you need to achieve the fastest SuperPi 4M time and submit it to them.
So if you meet the requirements, start overclocking at home, then submit your results towards Gigabyte. All you need to do is submit a screenshot of your results. The screenshots also needs to show CPU-Z validation and Core Temp.
This is of course not a regular overclocking webcontest. No, the best 3 teams of this webcontest will compete against the best 3 teams of Germany in a live contest in Eindhoven on 28th of March.
What is more exciting and challenging then a Belgium/Dutch
Oy didn't we see this with OCZ's products ? Evercool introduced the Transformer 4 (HPJ-12025) processor cooler, this model has four heatpipes (8mm diameter) that make direct contact with the base of your processor and transfer the heat to the aluminum heatsink. At 843.5g the cooler is a heavy weight, it measures 130mm x 122mm x 160mm and supports up to two 120mm fans.
The fans are painted with bling bling paint, they are rated at 38CFM with a noise level of under 21dBA. The Evercool Transformer 4 supports most recent desktop processors from AMD and Intel, you can find more info at their site.
Another day, another new feature in Gmail Labs. This one could be more useful than most, as it's something you probably have a reason to use with some frequency. It's called 'Undo Send,' and as the name suggests, it lets you take back a sent email, as long as you act quickly enough.
After enabling the feature, Undo Send works much like Gmail's other 'undo' features. When you send an email, you get a message confirming it has been sent, along with a link to 'Undo.' This message lasts for 5 seconds, at which point you lose the opportunity to take it back. While that might not be much time, it's probably enough to pull back emails where you forget an attachment, forget to cc someone, or catch an obvious typo.
Well, hey .. it's handy.
NZXT is announcing the Panzerbox, a mid-tower that offers the performance of a full-tower case due to its unique design. Panzerbox features the best airflow in its class, boasting two 190mm and one 120mm fans that churn out a combined 300 CFM. The Panzerbox

After Intel accused AMD on Monday of breaching a 2001 patent cross-license agreement with Intel, AMD's top lawyer had some choice words for its bigger rival.
In a phone interview Tuesday, AMD general counsel Harry Wolin refuted Intel's claim that the AMD manufacturing spin-off Globalfoundries is not a subsidiary--and thus cannot legally use Intel intellectual property--and talked more broadly about Intel's tactics.
Intel's ultimate goal, Wolin believes, is to crush rivals into oblivion. "In their perfect world, we wouldn't exist. If they had to deal with the government every now and then, that's fine, and they're still extracting monopoly profits from the industry," he said.
Wolin doesn't buy into the oft-repeated theory that Intel needs AMD to keep the industry honest and to keep the U.S. government at bay. "I don't agree with the premise that they have to have us and they think they have to have us. I think they would absolutely like us dead," Wolin said.
The Dickensian depiction of AMD as the impoverished, distressed victim of Intel's bullying and manipulation is inaccurate and, more importantly, misses the relevant point, according to Intel spokesman Chuck Mulloy. "It's nice of them to try to speak for us. AMD has been a competitor for almost 40 years in one form or another. This is not about AMD going away," he said. "This is about our rights and AMD's rights under the patent cross-license agreement."
Ashok Kumar, an analyst at investment bank Collins Stewart, said the premise of a remorselessly predatory Intel set on killing off its rivals is attention-getting but not that realistic.
"Could Intel put them out of business? Probably. But is it a likely outcome? I don't think so," he said. "Because they'll get a lot of significant push back from the OEMs (PC makers). The OEMs will essentially be making a beeline to Washington, D.C."
Intel contends this is a very localized dispute about whether Globalfoundries is a subsidiary or not, and not a manufactured issue "to distract the world from the global antitrust scrutiny (Intel) faces," as AMD said in a statement Monday. "AMD cannot unilaterally extend Intel's licensing rights to a third party without Intel's consent," said Bruce Sewell, senior vice president and general counsel for Intel, in a statement on Monday. Intel maintains the issue is that Globalfoundries is 34.2 percent owned by AMD and 65.8 percent-plus owned by Advanced Technology Investment Co., an investment company. So, in effect, Globalfoundries is not an AMD subsidiary.
Wrong, AMD says. It is not about ownership. AMD has met the conditions that qualify it as a subsidiary. "It requires that AMD originally contributed at least 50 percent of the assets. If you look at the fact that we've thrown in the German factories, we've thrown in the people, we've thrown in the technology, we've thrown in the intellectual property. I don't think there's any credible argument that says we haven't thrown in more than 50 percent of this. It says nothing about owning. It says you have to originally contribute 50 percent of the assets," Wolin said.
And what happens from here?
"Let's say the parties end up in a lawsuit at the end of 60 days," Wolin said. (Intel says it will terminate AMD's rights and licenses under the cross license in 60 days if the alleged breach has not been corrected.) "Well, you know, that lawsuit doesn't come to court for years and wouldn't come to court until well after the antitrust suit would come to court, which is currently scheduled for February of next year," according to Wolin.
Intel says the next step is mediation, where Globalfoundries is brought to the table. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then they would both be off to the races and the lawsuits would begin [source cnet].
So for this edition of daily deals at Guru3D I wanted to focus on motherboards for a change. There are many, they are diverse but let's run through some of the good deals shall we ?
AMD - Phenom / Phenom II

Intel - Core i7
Check out the prices to visit the shops directly and observe the specifications and such. Guys, have a great weekend !
The new technology is also simultaneously more efficient. The chipset uses 1.35 volts, or 20 percent less power than a 1.5-volt DDR3 stick; the 2-gigabit chips themselves use about 40 percent less power than a half as dense 1-gigabit chip.
Samsung hasn't provided pricing for the memory but does note that a less expensive, 8GB dual-inline RAM stick is also made possible for workstations and other, more conventional systems that use standard-length RAM slots.
The colleagues from xbit report that at GDC this year NVIDIA will focus on the benefits of GPU-accelerated artificial intelligence (AI) and physics processing at the Game Developers Conference 2009 in San Francisco next week. Additionally, NVIDIA will explain game developers how to properly optimize games for their shutter glasses-based 3D stereoscopic technology.
At the forthcoming Game Developers Conference 2009 the company will concentrate on demonstrating the benefits of GPU-accelerated artificial intelligence (AI) and physics processing. Besides, the company will also focus on teaching video game developers to efficiently use the power multi-core processors, including GeForce graphics processors.
In addition, Nvidia also plans to show game creators how to properly optimize their titles for shutter glasses-based 3D stereoscopic technology that was recently (re-)introduced by the company. Topics to be covered include: achieving out of screen effects, displaying 3D video content, and how to design a 3D friendly user interface. Nvidia also plans live demonstrations.
It is quite natural that Nvidia concentrates on ensuring that game developers can utilize the existing graphics technologies in the most efficient way. Currently available titles that heavily rely on DirectX 10 API usually run pretty slow on existing DX10-compatible hardware, therefore, it makes a lot of sense to use the power of next-generation DX11 graphics chips to take advantage of existing technologies.
There is a major drawback in this kind of tactics: if no games utilize Direct3D 11, then fewer gamers will be interested in next-gen graphics accelerators. On the other hand, the tactics allow Nvidia to switch attention of the industry from Microsoft Corp.
Intel is to drop some desktop PC CPU prices 10-20% yet also plans to launch new desktop PC processors while reducing some models' prices in April, May and July this year. Average price reductions will be around 10-20%, according to sources at motherboard makers.

A while ago the chassis demons from NZXT released their Whisper series of PC cases. A chassis designed to remain quiet under most common circumstances.
A nice design chassis that is big in size (full-tower) yet with a focus on decent airflow in that chassis, and the room for everything you can think of. Are the looks fooling us or is this a really worthy chassis concept ? So let us see of NZXT can succeed, the whisper is a chassis filled with noise damping features while retaining style.

Until recently, PS3 game developers had to buy the PhysX SDK (Software Development Kit) from Nvidia in order to use and implement PhysX in games. Announced on Tuesday, Nvidia extended the licensing agreement with Sony, though. This means that registered PS3 game developers can get Nvidia's PhysX SDK for free, from now on. What is interesting though is that according to the official press release, Nvidia made the same agreement with Nintendo. This means that developers for the Wii can now use the PhysX Software Development Kit for free, as well.
