The Review
Powercolor is a relatively young company that caught my
attention about 2 months ago. I stumbled into a review of their EvilQueen somewhere and
decided to track them down. After browsing their site a little bit i stumbled into some
products with the codename Gameboard. My first reaction was, hey ... A motherboard with an
integrated 3D Video card and a integrated 3D-Sound card ?!
Why hasn't somebody else thought about this idea a long
time ago.
The Gameboard is currently heavily
under development and some of the boards have hit the shelves as we speak.
The Gameboard we tested is the
DreamCode and consist of :
- Intel BX based motherboard
- integrated nVIDIA Riva TNT with 16mb
- Integrated Yamaha YMF-724 GX sound chip
Other Gameboard versions under
development are :
- DreamRich (Voodoo Banshee based)
- DreamSage (Voodoo3-2000 based)
- DreamPop (S3 Savage 4)
At the CeBIT i had the honor to
take a look at those board, and believe me ... they exist! There are also boards equiped
with TNT-2 and ATi Rage 128 under develpment.
