Corsair Obsidian 800D review - best Chassis evah ?
By Hilbert Hagedoorn, November 6, 2009 - 8:40 PM

Corsair Obsidian 800DToday a review on what we consider to be the near perfect PC chassis. Corsair has a reputation to deliver products in the somewhat more high-end region, they set the bar really high when it comes to enthusiast hardware and tend to really think things through. As such, when the first ideas started to float in the coffee room in a building about a Corsair Chassis, the R&D team put together some great minds and did not at all look at building a chassis, no, they very likely reversed roles; what would you guys like to see or need when building your dream chassis?

Their first ever PC chassis is called the Obsidian 800D, and it is without any shame I dare to state that this is among the best ever PC cases I personally have ever tested. Yes, this chassis is marvelous.

Nice review, this case looks incredible but I noticed that a lot of other reviews are commenting on some major heat issues. Some going as far as to say that this case is not suitable for air cooling. Something to do with only having the one intake fan at the bottom of the case, and that it's not nearly sufficient enough to supply air to this massive case. Maybe we could see a follow up on what kind of cpu/gpu temps you were seeing with your setup. You commented that you had no temperature issues but some specifics would be nice, especially if the temps are stable over time, as several of the reviews I saw noted that there was a steady gradual increase in temps to the point of being dangerous to the components. This would help the rest of us make some decisions on how to design the best system for a case like this.
