ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB reviewA new review today as we recently received a fresh product from PowerColor, which coincidentally is launching officially today. It's now October and although slightly delayed ATI gives you the *drum roll* Radeon X1950 Pro!

ATI worked hard to finish up its new 80 nanometer products and despite a delay of all the 80 nanometer chips, it is finally ready to be released. The Radeon X1950 Pro as tested today is such a product, and is actually the RV570 based card that you probably heard about a couple of times already.

Tul, the actual company behind the PowerColor line of products, asked us if we would be interested in reviewing some of their products a while ago, and so we did.

Roughly 2 weeks ago is was clear that ATI was about to release yet another graphics card onto the market that comes from the successful X1900 series of graphics cards. It's targeted at the high-end segment yet in the lower price range. The product is being positioned against NVIDIA's GeForce 7900 GS and 7950 GT.

So today we'll be looking at the rather lovely Radeon X1950 Pro from this company, a review on ATI's latest 12-pipe mid-range product which obviously was based off the R580 silicon, and is quite frankly a very credible graphics card as you'll learn in this article. The card features 36 Pixel Shaders units. For $199 you can pickup the 256MB version already, it sounds like a great deal as it should offer at least twice the performance of an X1600 Pro.

With that being said I'd like to invite you to hit the next page where we'll start off with a little technical information on the new Radeon X1950 Pro, discuss it's pricing, followed by a little photo shoot, after which we'll startup a large benchmark session to see how well it behaved performance wise.
