Performance testing
Talking about framerate

Please understand that if you buy the T2G for gaming you'll need a high-end graphics card that can cope with the demanding fill-rate in the highest resolutions. Filling up 3x 1280x1024 screens requires some really brute horse-power. You are on Guru3D.com so of course we quickly ran a couple of benchmarks. Now my recommendation is simple, you'll need a GeForce 7800 GTX preferably with 512MB memory or better product (SLi would most certainly be lovely) to get the most out of the gaming experience.

I do have to say though that the results with current modern graphics adapters was not at all bad. In a lot of my reviews I state that we see the graphics card not being able to push as hard as it could be due to severe CPU limitation. So with this resolution you obviously have less issues with CPU limited games. We'll show you a couple of benchmarks test which are very modern and very demanding titles.

Futuremark 3DMark 06

3DMark06 for example at default 1280x1024 reproduces a score of:

3DMark06

Score

SM 2.0

SM 3.0 CPU
GeForce 6800 GT 256MB 2404 982 899 1102
GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB 3840x1024 2403 1054 824 1113
GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB 4787 2176 2220 1107

Indeed, a overall score of 2403. And that's just not bad at all if you consider that's the performance level of a 6800 GT at 1280x1024.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

Splinter Cell CT 1024x768 1280x1024 1600x1200 1920x1200 3840x1024
7800 GTX 512MB 124 97 72 63 36
7800 GTX 512MB + HDR 101 74 53 48

29

Now the results above are taken with no AA yet with 16 levels of anisotropic filtering. Check it out, 36 FPS with HDR disabled and 29 FPS with HDR enabled. This was done on a pretty hardcore system with a GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB, AMD64 Athlon FX-57 and 2 GB memory.

F.e.a.r.

F.E.A.R. 10x7 12x9 16x12 19x12 3840x1024
7800 GTX 512MB 126 115 73 62

36

7800 GTX 512MB 4xAA 16xAF 65 45 33 29

16

*Cough* yeah you seriously need to consider SLi here if you want the eye-candy enabled. Disabling AA and AF though will result into a very enjoyable gaming experience. Mind you that all further quality settings where set to maximum (SoftShadows disabled).

X3: reunion

X3 Benchmark 10x7 12x10 16x12 19x12 3840x1024
7800 GTX 512MB 67 64 58 54 38
4xAA 16xAF 62 56 47 43 27

The last title I wanted to show performance with is that gorgeous to the eyes X3: Reunion. What a title. All eye candy is enabled here. Again we see that 4xAA and 16xAF is too much in this resolution. It however remains barely playable. Normal trilinear filtering and no AA enabled is extremely do-able though.
