What about gaming ?

Of course it's all about gaming in this review so I simply must have a small look at gaming compatibility. I'm very happy to report that most games can support this high-resolution straight out of the box. The first thing I tried was Half-Life 2 : Lost Coast. I simply went towards screen setup, select 16:10 and then 3840 x 1024. The game picks up the resolution and woah .. a wonderful experience starts. This goes for a lot of games. Some older titles however do not support higher resolutions. Matrox has been and of course will be working with many software developers to make sure the resolution is supported. And they are doing a great job also. Here are some random titles that all support the T2G:

MMORPG
Dungeon’s & Dragons Online: Stormreach
Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
Eve Online
Guild Wars
Star Wars Galaxies - The Total Experience
World of Warcraft (1.10.0 patch)

Simulators
Flight Simulator 2004
GT Legends
GTR Racing
IL-2 Sturmovik
Live For Speed S2
Lock On: Modern Air Combat
Pacific Fighters
  First Person Shooters
Brother’s in arms: Earned in blood
F.E.A.R.
Half-Life 2
Quake 4
Serious Sam 2
Unreal Tournament 2004

Strategy / Role-Playing Games
Age of Empires III
Black & White 2
Civilization 4
Earth2160
Galactic Civilizations II
Neverwinter Nights
X3 Reunion

And don't get me wrong .. often you do not need special T2G patches or anything .. it's just a matter of the game supporting the resolution. Right now there are easily a hundred and fifty games supporting the T2G, go towards this page to check compatibility.

There however are some games out there that do support the resolution yet not straight out of the box as they often need a configuration change in terms of a modded .ini file or something. This is where Matrox will help you out with the Surround gaming Utility (SGU).

Matrox Surround Gaming Utility

We can go into a lot of detail here, but let me explain this the simple way. When a configuration or .ini file needs to be changed for a game you simply start up the SGU. This little utility will scan for installed and supported games. Now you select the game versus the resolution you want to play your game in, hit apply and the application will make the necessary modification for you. It's literally 3 seconds work and works really well.
