It's no secret and you know it, I like the GT cards better than the GTS purely based on pricing level. However, some interesting stuff has happened ever since we published out 8600 GPU article a week ago. The GTS prices have dropped to roughly 190 USD which makes it a tad more interesting to buy. And the 8600 GT already sells below 150 USD. That's really good.

For the standard 8600 GT eVGA product this means you can buy it at 150 USD as well. The Superclocked editions obviously are slightly more expensive, yet it's not that bad price wise.. they have been spotted here and there for 160 USD already. Combine that with the life-time warranty and step-up program .. that's a good deal. I do have to say that if you plan to buy it at like 170-180 USD then just go for the GTS as it will offer better performance and yes .. you can overclock that one as well.

In the article we compared this Superclocked model towards the XFX XXX edition and Galaxies Premium edition which also are pre-overclocked cards. There's no other way in telling it; eVGA had it's card clocked the most shy and that shows in overall performance. Don't let it tease your brains too much though as really... we're talking a couple of FPS in the lower resolutions on average.

More general speaking, the GT is a product series for those with a 1024x769 or 1280x1024 pixels sized monitor. It'll offer you decent 3D gaming performance and will allow you to enable AA and AF in most situations as well. We have not discussed this in the article obviously the card is a great card for multimedia playback as well. Combine it with the proper playback software or PureVideo and it'll even decode and enhance HD content over the GPU. That's good stuff.

With the Series products comes a DX10 capable product (backwards compatible obviously). This eVGA graphics card is offering decent performance up-to a resolution of 1280x1024 in most games which makes it an interesting product for a lot of you on that ~160 USD/EUR budget.
