ECS GF8200A black edition mainboard review

BIOS

ECS gave the mainboard a decent BIOS, with fairly acceptable overclocking options. Now if you are on a Phenom X4 processor, I do not recommend to overclock too much, due to the 4-phase power design of this mainboard. We did run a 9850 at 2.8 GHz just by increasing the CPU voltage towards 1.3v and upped the multiplier. It worked really well. Let's have a peek at some BIOS functions though.

Here you can select hybrid functionality. Also memory. DRAM Frequency value allows you to limit the RAM to run in ASYNC mode to the CPU CLK. Fairly standard stuff.

Memory voltage can be set to 2.40v, NB voltage is adjustable to 1.24v

fairly normal monitoring functions.

CPU multiplier can be set to max of 25x, CPU voltage can be set to 1.55v MAX. A HUGE error on ECSes part is the fact that once you enable this setting, the settings automatically select the highest possible settings.

If you by any chance would enable and save this setting CPU voltage would be set at 1.55 volt. A big no-go. Let's hope they fix that with the next BIOS update.
