The Verdict

Dare I say it ? Yes, credit where credit is due ... this PSU might replace the Enermax Galaxy 1000 Watt DXX in our primary video card test system. Now purely from a power distribution point of view, the Galaxy might be a tad better. But the Dark Power Pro 1000 Watt simply has everything else. Next to the high Ampage specifications the complete black look, safety features, black wiring, 100% modability and the sheer low-noise level. I tell you, this is one mighty impressive power supply to own. The looks and feel are just brilliant. Now I know, it's a tad subjective to test PSU's in this class as really, we can hardly stress them. To do so we'd need a Chroma 8000, which is some really serious gear, yet completely unaffordable. We do our best by stressing the PSU in a real-world situation, taken to the extreme. And it passed our tests without the slightest hiccup, noise or protest.

Next to that we just have to factor in several other positives: High efficiency at roughly +80%, addition fan control, a cool-down period after the PC shuts down (fan remain active for a couple of minutes), filters on cabling to prevent ripple noise on the wiring and much more. Even stuff like cable length, everything has been though well through.

Now if that isn't convincing enough for you, this PSU is among the cheapest 1000 Watt PSU's ... super, you can pick it up for roughly 290 EUR/USD which obviously is still a stackload a lot of money to spend on a PSU; but I tell you this, it will be one of the wisest investments you have ever made for your PC. This thing will last years.

The Dark Power Pro 1000 Watt PSU comes with a three year warranty and is available on the stores starting in August 2007. Once again we give away our very hard to get "Best hardware Award"; it's well deserved, this thing is amazing.
