Right let's get started. The first booth to visit this year was one of our good partners, Galaxy Technology. We started reviewing their products roughly a year and a half ago. You can see that the company is growing and they clearly wanted to show that at CeBIT this year. Parked directly next to the NVIDIA stand they built a really nice booth where they were showing their latest products. It was unfortunate that my primary contact at Galaxy was not around, but filling in her place was Senior Regional Sales Manager Ronny Chow and Executive Vice President Kevin Poon with whom I had a nice dialog. Of course many if not almost all Galaxy graphics' cards are tested here at Guru3D.com
Galaxy is doing well, the 6600 GT series is a hit and the Glacier 6800 series is also extremely popular. Galaxy is going to stick with NVIDIA for a long time, I also asked them if there are any plans to expand their business to other hardware, for expansion to mainboard etc. Galaxy definitely has opened their eyes to other opportunities but I got the idea right now their graphics card business will be their primary focus. I'm glad they do, as they do make lovely products.
The images below show a new GeForce 6600 GT that is going to be released soon. Good news for overclockers and tweakers, Galaxy is one of the few companies they tries to innovate their products constantly. You can obviously see that from the cooling techniques and PCB tricks found on recent releases. The photos below are exclusive. This is a 6600 GT that will become available in AGP and PCI-Express version. This is in fact a Dual BIOS, Dual DVI pure copper cooled graphics card.
It is design specifically for overclockers. If you look down to photo's you'll notice an additional switch. Now say you want to overclock or fool around with the BIOS to get some pretty interesting overclocking results eh? You can do that now risk free. If you fail miserably with your overclock, you simply flip the switch and the card is hardwired to the second backup BIOS. Once you boot up you can flash BIOS A to B again, and start over and over until you are satisfied. pretty interesting idea, yet for a very small audience I'm afraid.
But this is innovation and I'm just so glad that there are still manufacturers out there that do this stuff.
That's a high performance copper GPU cooler. The copper heatsink under it actually cools down the HSI bridge chip that makes this product AGP8x compatible. If you look closely at the image just below the fan you'll see two tiny chips, these are the two BIOS's. All the way to your left you can see the switch. And in the left upper corner the black round thingy is actually a little speaker, once you overheat or endanger your card it will make a beeping sound. The red jumper next to it gives you the option to disable that little speaker/buzzer.
