The Verdict
The last time we reviewed an Albatron product I stated I was impressed, this time (and I know it sounds boring) I must say that I am impressed.
From A to Z I'm very happy with this product, great PCB build, nice blue color, very original cooling solution that actually works and next to that overclocking wise the card showed really nice things considering its original silent cooling design. What you can expect from Albatron's GeForce 6800 is dual monitor eye-candy, really good performance for the money you pay, excellent movie/media playback and crystal clear 2D and 3D image display. Stability and performance of this product again is really good, it did not once crash or showed weird behavior during our tests.
Hey, do you know who this card is perfect for? The enthusiast user with an LCD screen that doesn't go beyond 1024x768 or 1280x1024, yet want all eye-candy enabled because you can and won't have to take less for an answer. Also I see a rather sizable market here for HTPC builders due to the fantastic low noise and heat the card produces.
The twelve pixel pipes 6800 offers is extremely enjoyable for the dough you have to pay. It's amazing though that with the recent release of GeForce 7800 GTX we already have 24 pixel pipelines available. The product is 100% reference based which doesn't make it really stand out of the competition, bit the WiseFan III and passive cooling covering both sides of that nice cool blue PCB is making this product something really special.
Speaking about 'the pipes'; as many of you say, the "Eehw it only has 12 pixel pipes" factor, the standard GeForce 6800 offers an excellent gaming experience and it should since it is still in that high-end class, but for a far better price. This little gem here will cost you just 250 EUR which is an awesome price, versus performance versus original cooling versus what not. The one bummer has to be is the software-bundle though, but hey. Less games included in the end will save you money. On the other side, you do receive the component HDTV connector and a plethora of other cables.
Titles like Far Cry and Doom 3; Half-life 2, Splinter Cell 3 should have no problems at all with this card. The heart of the beast has been fitted with a 222 Million transistor GPU doing 385 MHz and can even be clocked higher. The card is a pleasure to own and play games with.
The manufacturer suggested retail price for this product is 250 EUR, that means you likely can get it even cheaper in e-tail my friends. This is definitely a great graphics card and we can recommend it enormously.
