AData is a company that has been in the memory business for a long ling time already. They are not really out there with hefty marketing, yet do have a very reputable line of memory products. On that note here at Guru3D we'll review a 2GB DDR2 memory kit. And since they have "enthusiast" products as well, I figured it would be nice to check some of their DDR2 memory with tight memory timings. Adata released this memory under a "Extreme Edition" label. And I do have to admit, for the money you get to play around with 4-4-4-12 timings. Now If you don't have a clue what I am talking about; don't worry. We'll explain the basics in this article, hey you are on Guru3D... we try to explain everything.

Now if you don't know what to ask for under that Christmas tree within say a 75 USD budget... now might be a good time to upgrade your PC's memory. Currently prices range 25 to 30 USD per 1 GB. Today's tested memory for example will set you back roughly 55 USD. Memory at this time is cheap, and your PC can definitely use a little more 'breathing space".

So, the Vitesta memory tested today is not only cheap to get, it's also really fast with he timings as suggested above. Initial performance levels of DDR2 memory was hindered to say the least, it's no longer the case today. Do you guys remember that at its inauguration entry level DDR2 came clocked at 400MHz with CL4 timings ? Later, one of the most common enthusiast speed grades is PC2-6400 (800MHz), which is double the initial frequency with the same timings as DDR2's big debut.

This memory as tested also supports EPP and although not labeled with a "SLI Ready" memory certification, it is accepted by your mainboard as SLI Ready anyway. Good stuff. Let's talk a little about memory in general and then put this memory to the test.
